Privacy Policy

Introduction

Alfajor LLC ("we," "our," or "us") operates Collected Notes — a platform for writing, syncing, and publishing Markdown notes and collaborating with AI agents, available on the web and on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the control you have over your data.

Our address: 2108 N St Ste N, Sacramento, CA 95816 US

The Short Version

We store the notes and account data needed to sync your notes across devices, publish your site, and power the API, CLI, and MCP server — and nothing more. You can export everything as Markdown and delete your account at any time. We never sell your data, and we never train AI models on your content.

Information We Collect

  • Account information — your email and name, and the identifier from your sign-in provider if you use Google or Apple sign-in.
  • Your content — the notes, titles, tags, and site settings you create, stored on our servers so they can sync across devices, publish to your site, and be available through the API.
  • API keys and device tokens — to authenticate the CLI, API, and MCP server, and to deliver push notifications if you enable them.
  • Billing information — processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card number.
  • Limited usage data — basic, privacy-respecting product analytics and error logs used to keep the service running.

How We Use Your Information

  • Provide folder sync, publishing, search, and notifications.
  • Authenticate you — and the agents and integrations you authorize.
  • Process payments and manage your subscription.
  • Maintain security, prevent abuse, and debug problems.

AI and Agents

On-device AI (such as Apple Foundation Models in our native apps) runs locally on your device — that content is not sent to us or to any third party.

If you connect an external agent — for example Claude or Codex — through the CLI or API, the note content you ask it to act on is sent to that provider under your own configuration and subject to their terms and privacy policies. We do not use your content to train AI models.

Publishing and Visibility

Every note has a visibility level. Public and unlisted notes are accessible to anyone with the link; private notes are visible only to you and the agents you authorize. You choose and can change a note's visibility at any time.

Third-Party Services

We rely on a small set of service providers to operate Collected Notes, including cloud hosting and database infrastructure, Stripe for payments, email delivery, and Apple Push Notification service for notifications. We share only the information each provider needs to perform its function. We do not sell your data.

Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You can export your notes as Markdown or CSV at any time, and you can delete your account from Settings. Deleting your account removes your notes and personal information from our active systems; residual copies in encrypted backups expire on a rolling schedule.

Cookies

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, and access to our systems is restricted. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard safeguards.

Children's Privacy

Collected Notes is intended for users who are at least 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will remove it.

Your Rights and California Residents

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. You can exercise most of these directly in the app by exporting or deleting your notes and account.

We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use it for profiling. California residents may exercise their rights under the CCPA/CPRA by contacting us at [email protected].

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will note changes by updating the "Last updated" date above, and encourage you to review it periodically.
