How do agents connect?
Three ways: the built-in MCP server (read, write, search, tag), the REST API with OAuth 2.1 and webhooks, or a plain folder of .md files kept in sync by the cn CLI — agents like Claude Code just edit the files.
Is my data private?
Yes. AI writing runs on-device with Apple’s Foundation Models — your notes don’t leave your phone for that. Everything is exportable, and your notes are always yours.
Does the AI cost extra?
No. On-device AI is free and unlimited — no API keys, no per-token fees. For heavier work you can point a bigger agent on your own Mac at your notes.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Collected Notes is local-first: you read, write, and search offline, and the cn daemon syncs both ways when you’re back online.
Can I export my notes?
Always. Plain Markdown files, CSV, a REST API, and an MCP server — no lock-in. Mirror a local folder and your notes stay in sync as .md files.
